Six years have passed since the release of Era Vulgaris, when Josh Homme kept promising a new album within a few years. On June 4, 2013, Queens Of The Stone Age released "...Like Clockwork", perhaps their most beautiful album since Songs For The Deaf. The album presents itself excellently just by looking at the cover, depicting a vampire biting a woman. This album is simply magnificent: the riffs created by Josh Homme are technically complex and very creative, as are all the riffs in their discography. ...Like Clockwork proves to be much darker and more mysterious compared to its predecessors. Among the entire tracklist (10 songs), "I Appear Missing" and Smooth Sailing stand out. The first one I mentioned is certainly, as stated by the music magazine Kerrang, the most beautiful song ever made in the stoner panorama. It is very limiting, especially for this album, to dwell on each individual song, as each track has its own soul and evokes always different feelings. I have always been in favor of judging an album track by track, and I still am, but this album does not deserve to be listened to and criticized superficially; rather, it needs to be heard multiple times, as Like Clockwork is a work crafted by gods, rock gods descended to earth (I'm not exaggerating: listen to believe). Giving five stars to this masterpiece is shameful: it deserves a score outside the rating system, outside the concept of beauty that a human can have. For the first time, I spared myself the usual track by track.
