Maple Death Records has its ear finely tuned to unexplored (ultra)sounds made in Italy (Holiday Inn, Havah, Metro Crowd) and didn't miss out on Qlowski, a garage post-punk band from the province of Ravenna.
This 7'' EP comes after their debut two years ago, a self-produced cassette format release.
4 oblique tracks that start off with a punch like the Feelies and derail in skeletal, vicious Kleenex/Liliput atmospheres.
"Taking Control," "Golden Boy," "Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder" are infused with flower pop fermented on nervous Polyrock oscillations.
And then there's "Needle," the explosive peak of the 4-track EP, where you can feel the tension of the Sound (Jeopardy era), the angular punk of early Wire, and certain uncontrollable impulses à la Devo.
Produced by Jonathan Clancy of His Clancyness.
