Formed in Hjordkaer in 2001 by Michael Kammeyer; early lineup included singer Lance King and drummer Morten Sørensen. Toke Skjonnemand joined as a second guitarist for the 2006 album. Matthew Barlow (formerly of Iced Earth) joined for the 2008 album Immortal. The band's style is commonly described as power/progressive metal with high production values.

DeBaser's reviews (all by Hellring) cover Pyramaze's early catalog and the 2008 album Immortal. Reviewers repeatedly praise technical skill and production but fault the band for recycling genre conventions and lacking fresh ideas. Overall reception across the three reviews is mixed, leaning toward disappointment.
