The Profile

Pyramaze is a Danish power/progressive metal band formed in 2001 in Hjordkaer by guitarist Michael Kammeyer. Early albums featured vocalist Lance King; Immortal (2008) starred Matthew Barlow. The band later returned with new material, continuing its polished, modern power/prog approach.

Formed in Hjordkaer, Denmark in 2001 by Michael Kammeyer. Early line-up included Lance King (vocals), Morten Gade Sørensen (drums), and Niels Kvist (bass); Toke Skjønnemand added second guitar by 2006. Matthew Barlow sang on Immortal (2008). Later releases include Disciples of the Sun (2015), Contingent (2017), Epitaph (2020), and Bloodlines (2023).

Three reviews cover Pyramaze’s early-to-Immortal period with a critical slant. Strong production and musicianship are noted, but songwriting is judged uneven. Melancholy Beast and Legend of the Bone Carver receive moderate praise; Immortal is viewed more negatively, despite Matthew Barlow’s presence. Danish scene context and comparisons to Iced Earth, Helloween, and Gamma Ray recur throughout.
