LA RECENSIONE

A few days ago, after returning home from a tiring school day, like a typical angry teenager, I locked myself in solitude in my room. I was thirsty for music; I wanted to listen to music that would lift my spirits—sunny, lively, yet reflective music. So, almost by chance, I listened to the album in question, which positively surprised me. To cut a long story short, I noticed the absence of a review of this album on this site, and so...

Have you ever had that feeling on a peaceful summer morning, when you wake up and feel a sense of vitality and carefreeness, which, tempered by a certain melancholy, transforms into a state of tranquility and reflection? I haven't; but the closest sensation to this condition I've experienced was while listening to "My Brother's Ears/My Sister's Eyes" by "Psychic Babble," dated 2011.

"Psychic Babble" is a one-man band created by Colin Frangicetto, guitarist of Circa Survive. Frangicetto, who wielded furious and virtuosic guitar patterns in his main band, instead finds himself creating sweet and gentle interplays in this project, while maintaining the same indie "verve" that also characterizes Circa.

"My Brother's Ears/My Sister's Eyes" is a ray of sunshine, a dream/indie pop gem. The dreamy and almost ethereal atmosphere of the album is dominated by the alternation of moments of liveliness and vitality, of relaxation and reflection, and again, of bewilderment and estrangement. Every song is a tiny gem that, played with a disarmingly challenging pop lightness, emits inner peace, joy of living, contemplative pleasure, and many other beautiful things...

On sad days, this work is like a bolt from the blue, or rather, a flash in solitude. Ok, I'll stop here.
