Curious band, Prostitute Disfigurement. Setting aside the truly ridiculous name, something common among many bands of the genre I listen to and appreciate, Prostitute Disfigurement is an honest Brutal Death band. Despite the vocalist's growl, heavily filtered, a true clogged sewer (in a good sense, of course), the band plays nothing but Old School Brutal Death Metal, very much influenced by the masters Cannibal Corpse, with various solos by the guitarist and riffs that are quite classic, no imaginative breaks, no innovation, just Pure Fucking Brutal Death. Prostitute Disfigurement is not a band to be taken too seriously, obviously in terms of lyrics and themes, because musically they’ve got balls, if you’ll pardon the expression. And indeed, here they are at their third effort, this Left In Grisly Fashion, an album composed of 9 tracks including an interlude, all about 3 minutes at the most.

The growler warbles in a very sick way, alternating with screams from another voice, I believe, or perhaps from the same vocalist. The guitarist spices it all up with melodic and fast solos, making extensive use of tapping and other techniques. The bass, as usual, is played predominantly in low tones, with a cavernous and dark sound. The drummer mainly handles blast beats and more or less fast parts; the band focuses more on sonic impact than on slow and reflective parts, with riffs ranging from classic brutal breaks mixed with traditional death and, to a lesser extent, thrash. The gore themes, as I mentioned before, should definitely be taken lightly, especially for this band, which comes across as ambiguous; it is unknown whether they are consciously jesters or actually believe in the lyrics they create (which would be worrying). They remain, however, a good example of Brutal death, superbly played, despite lacking high ambitions. A band that has never produced masterpieces, but excellent works from a technical and musical standpoint. It is unfortunately obvious that many people remain "skeptical" about bands like this, with phrases like, "What kind of name is that? What clowns!" or, "How can you listen to that stuff?"—I've heard many, but honestly, for the way I listen to and view music, one should never be too closed-minded, but rather appreciate what is certainly not very original, taking it for what it is, and in the case of this album, a good piece of work without a doubt. Long live Pure Fucking Old School Brutal Death Metal indeed.

Brutal and guttural greetings to all.
