No definition was ever more apt. To tell the truth, we should also say what BIGBEAT is. A mix of mid-tempo rhythms (from 110 to 135/140 bpm) that blends elements of the beat (beat) such as Hip/Hop with breaks (elements of a track with only percussion present) that are dirty with Funky, Hip/Hop, Tribal Sounds, Jazz loops, and so much electronics.

Synthesizers and Bongos of all kinds take the lead along with inserts of very dirty and distorted bass lines. Sampling of jazz bases played by pianos and transformed through the wise use of electronic means into sounds now piano-like effects now organ, moog and mellotron. Immortal but "old" sounds that re-mixed, matched, sped up or slowed down, distorted and compressed.... become brand new.
All mixed together so that my head (but also yours... rest assured) moves like something hinged on a large spring. And with the head, feet, and arms and even the hands. This record was released in 1998 almost 10 years ago and it is A BLAST.

For all these reasons just mentioned and because the record is a Mix of rhythms that go from jazz-distorted to James Bond and London, passing through Starsky&Hutch, California and aviator sunglasses, psychedelic space-time sounds and distortions well...
