Here comes Princess Chelsea!

Indie Pop galore is what we find in the album "Lil' golden book", the debut album of Chelsea Nikkel's solo project.

Almost cartoon-like atmospheres, very fantasy and carefree, as suggested by the album cover, an album where strings, synthesizers, keyboards, and Nikkel's lolita voice reign supreme.

The album also features a collaboration with Jonhatan Bree (The Brunettes) in the song "The Cigarette duet", a song full of moralism against smoking and its addiction that is too often underestimated:

"-it's just cigarette it'll soon be only ten

- honey can't you trust me when i want to stop i can."

The same moralism is rich in "Too fast to live", a song denouncing alcohol. Excellent atmospheres and music in "Frack" and "Monkey eats bananas", although the latter's lyrics are really nonsensical:

"monkey eats bananas that he stole from your house. It's bananas that he stole from your house"

I also mention "Goodnight little robot child", in my opinion one of the best tracks, angelic choirs dress this song that talks about the increasingly visceral relationship between humans and computers.

Summing it up, a good album, nothing more, nothing less. It deserves a listen all the way through, and if the first listen grabs you... well, welcome to the realm of Princess Chelsea!
