At least it must be heard.
Yes, we are talking about Primal Scream's 'Screamadelica' and 'XTRMNTR'. Only this is their first LP.
At the time, good old Bob Gillespie apparently had had enough of the Reid brothers (Jesus and Mary Chain) who, among other things, started quarreling among themselves. Simple guitar feedback over pure sweet melody "english NME wanted." Could a semi-genius like Bob Gillespie settle for that? Yes, if he didn't have the you-know-whats, but since he did, he preferred to jump ship from J&MC and try to do things his own way.
He joins a certain Jim NavaJo - 12 string lead guitar and tries: the result is the aforementioned album: fresh, even naive if you like, style english psychedelic beat following in the footsteps of the Electric Prunes (Americans). Well, anyway, this is the best LP by Primal Scream. Yes, it's true they later "dared" with 'Screamadelica' and 'XMNTR'.
I have an image of Bob entering the Bloom Di Mezzago hall with his band (period after the second LP) nervous, looking around disdainfully, dissatisfied. That's the character: never still, if you go talk to him about his first LP he'd spit in your face. Great Bob.
