In the 1970s, progressive experienced its greatest period of fame. Genesis composed "Selling England by The Pound," Pink Floyd the legendary "Dark Side Of The Moon," Emerson, Lake & Palmer the sublime "Tarkus," and so on, going through other masterpieces.

Our land also knew a period of splendor thanks to bands like Area led by the famous Demetrios Stratos, Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, and PFM (Premiata Forneria Marconi), who, thanks to their masterpiece, "Storia Di Un Minuto," made themselves known worldwide, even filling stadiums in the United States (let's recall the memorable live in the USA).

"Storia Di Un Minuto" is an album that made history and contains memorable songs for the worldwide progressive scene (no, I am not mistaken!!!).

The album begins with an introduction of about 1 minute. This introduction is followed by the very famous song "Impressioni di Settembre," a beautiful track with an unforgettable text. In fact, the song contains verses that will make the history of this group (Quante gocce di rugiada intorno a me / cerco il sole ma non c'è...). Following this song is what would become, with the text translated into English, PFM's most famous song, "E' Festa." This song stayed at number 1 on the English and American hits for a long time and was what allowed the consecration of this band. A powerful song even in live performances. Here is also one of Mauro Pagani's most beautiful performances. "Dove Quando" is a (needless to say: beautiful) acoustic song worthy of the best Genesis (if not superior). "Dove Quando part II," on the other hand, is an instrumental song of the highest level. "La Carrozza di Hans" is a more than amazing track that features a beautiful piece with Franco Mussida's guitar. The last song, "Grazie Davvero," is a song worthy of PFM. In this song, a compositional technique emerges that could give chills even to groups like ELP or Genesis.

An album not to be missed. Definitely the best Italian album ever. Few artists, even internationally, have been able to reach such heights. A must-have record for all '70s progressive enthusiasts.

02   Impressioni di settembre (05:43)

03   È festa (04:51)

Come sempre é la festa
d'un leggero uccello che va
come sempre è la festa
di chi è.

04   Dove... quando... (Parte I) (04:06)

05   Dove... quando... (Parte II) (06:00)

06   La carrozza di Hans (06:45)

Guarda, cerca
corri lontano,
vola…
Hans il mercante
aspetta lontano,
vola…

Piccolo uomo
signore del mondo
vai…

La carrozza attende già
no ti fermare,
a cassette sali e va
non ti voltare,
suona un corno da cocchiere,
lustra l'abito de Re;
è la carrozza di Hans.
Strade e strade correrai,
senza contare,
cieli e cieli finirai,
tu sai volare,
suona un corno da cocchiere,
lustra l'abito de Re;
è la carrozza di Hans.

Cieli infiniti, vento in faccia
voglia di correre e non fermarsi mai
scrivere suonare e bailare
e non fermarsi mai
bruciare il proprio teatro
vestira il proprio teatro
ascoltara, lavorare a dormire
e nor fermarsi mai;
guardarsi in giro
sentirsi il mondo negli occhi
sentirsi piccino e adorare
e non fermarsi mai.

…i silenzi,
e foglie cadute e cadute
a nubi bige a rimpiattino...

07   Grazie davvero (05:51)

"The sweet poetry of 'Impressioni di settembre'... I would compare it without hesitation to 'Stairway To Heaven' by Led Zeppelin: in short, a 'must'."

"An important feature of this album is also the fact that it is played 'live in studio'... this gives the work a unique emotional impact."

'Storia di un minuto' (a minute that lasted thirty years) is the first album of Premiata Forneria Marconi, and it is their masterpiece.

Premiata Forneria Marconi undoubtedly are very good, play very well, sing so-so but are not perfect.

All of Italy should be proud of PFM; in a country where rock bands have always been overshadowed by British giants, having a band that has been praised even by bands like Led Zeppelin should make us happy.

'Impressioni di Settembre'... A masterpiece, in short. One of those songs that directly enters your veins while you’re listening.

The album clearly draws on English progressive rock, especially King Crimson and Jethro Tull.

'Impressioni di settembre' is extraordinary and very innovative: indeed, the chorus is instrumental, moreover dominated by the Moog.

"Storia di un minuto is a musical fairy tale, a collection of moments of such intensity that it seems eternal."

"Impressioni di Settembre is the moment before dawn, the moment when the night is darkest—the moment before getting up and starting over."
