THE REVIEW

Among the reviews on debaser, there was a notable absence: “La grande festa dei Pooh,” an album celebrating the 40th anniversary of one of the greatest Italian bands.

This double CD contains the greatest hits of the Pooh along with the unreleased title track “La grande festa,” a festive song sung in chorus by the Pooh. In the first CD, just mentioning a few songs is enough to understand that this is an album to buy without hesitation.

Who doesn’t know “Piccola Katy” (1968), a song that most people have hummed in the shower or by summer campfires? “Tanta voglia di lei” from 1971 is a very poignant romantic ballad whose success is also due to the fact that still today, it’s known by almost all generations. The same goes for “Pensiero,” also from 1971. Not to mention “Dammi solo un minuto” (1977), which was elevated even further by the rap remake by Gemelli Diversi with the title “Un attimo ancora”. “Chi fermerà la musica” (1981) is another unforgettable piece of this anniversary celebration attributed to the Pooh because, by listening to it, the “air really becomes electric”.

On the second CD, the tracks most familiar to the general public are the beautiful and meaningful “Uomini soli” from 1990, and “Amici per sempre” (1996), whose meaning the Pooh have implemented in real life. The thrilling “Dimmi di si” (1999) presents the Pooh in a more rock version, as does “Stai con me” from 2000. Among the historic tracks, it’s impossible to overlook “la donna del mio migliore amico” and the lesser-known “Cercando di te,” both from 1996. Among the more recent songs are “Capita quando capita” and “Domani” from 2004. In short, there is only the embarrassment of choice for a historic CD that traces the milestones of a band with an extraordinary artistic career. In front of the Pooh, we can only bow and hope they don’t lose the desire to make songs and move us with their ever-present simplicity. A piece of history!
