The entire album was recorded at the "Lahaina sound e video studios" in Maui, a splendid island of Hawaii.
The album, with a very rock style, contains 9 tracks in the cd version and 8 in the LP version. The track that most represents it is definitely "La mia donna," one of Pooh's most famous hits. It is a very intriguing song and a dedication to a hypothetical girl. Very impressive is the final part of the track where you can hear one of Dody's greatest guitar solos. Nevertheless, the album opens with the track Ragazzi del mondo, of typical 80s Pop/rock style. The song talks about two boys and their adolescent and post-adolescent problems. Also very beautiful is the track Selvaggio, totally 80s Rock and full of highly appreciable electronic effects. It is followed by the track "Io, vicino, io lontano," sung by Dody, and it is a pop ballad that talks about the differences between a Hawaiian girl and a hypothetical Italian boy who would like to love her but, due to these differences, cannot!
A very beautiful track is "Stella del sud" of ballad/rock flavor. It then moves to the track "Tempi migliori"; a ballad that perhaps appears to be underwhelming compared to all the tracks on the album but still appreciable, if only for the typical Hawaiian melodies!
"Come saremo," is a ballad/rock that talks about how the Pooh themselves reflect on what they might be like in about 20 years! Very beautiful, both the lyrics and the music.
The last two pieces (in cd version) are "Il giorno prima" and "Canzone per lilly." The first is a very committed track, perhaps the most significant track of the album. The reference is to a film of that time that talked about nuclear disasters. And it is precisely nuclear disasters that inspire the song, or rather, what would happen following a nuclear disaster. The second, however, is a very soft track, a dedication to a girl named Lilly.
Overall, Aloha is a very well-done album; very rock and in perfect 80s style with songs that even today are very current, especially in sound (the reference is to Il giorno prima, La mia donna and Stella del sud).
Absolutely a must-buy!!
