If you are not part of the solution, it means you are part of the problem.

Fast Canoe is a damn valve for release, able to confess and redeem you from your sins, thus opens "Exploded Drawing" a rare pearl from an oyster that broke at the end of the nineties.

I have always said that the woman of my life will have to be someone who, when asked “do you like Polvo?” responds “they are my most cherished band,” I know what you're thinking (it will be a life of self-indulgence).

It's all a variety of noise and math-rock, a rich work of sonic meticulousness, that will only be appreciated after several attentive listens, not to mention Crumbling Down, the foundational pillar of the album that enters your head like a kamikaze enters a building.

The belief that getting eight hours of sleep a night would be enough to make us feel good is a gigantic myth. "We have evolved - explained Jim Horne from the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University - to have very flexible and fragmented sleep patterns, including daytime naps". Therefore, there wouldn't exist just one right model to follow. "A short nap of 4 or 15 minutes - said the expert - can be as effective as an extra hour of sleep at night". Hundreds of years ago, sleep was divided throughout the day. People would even wake up in the middle of the night. "This modern concept that waking up in the middle of the night is a bad thing - said Horne - can actually be destructive to the quality of our sleep. For instance, if you wake up at 3 am, you stay anxious because you can’t sleep. Instead, you should simply get out of bed and occupy your mind with something boring but relaxing, like doing a puzzle or reading a book, until the body says it's ready to sleep again". "If cavemen had slept all night - the expert concluded - they would have been eaten alive".

And on these nights when I wake up at four in the morning, I decide not to go back to sleep but to listen to “in this life” and “street knowledge” on repeat.

This is an elaborate album, researched down to the smallest details, do not think that just because you own more than a hundred albums you can afford to find all those details, at a certain point it's no longer about the ear, it takes a state of mind that you can't compensate with albums but only with life, the one lived… and then only you can say “Hell Yes! I listen to Polvo”.

Polvo, like all good things, didn't last long and were not widely known, like a gum that once the taste is gone, you spit it on the street, they had a reunion, but for a true listener of the band like me it was just putting a band-aid on a grenade wound.

Ash Bowie has something heartbreaking in his voice, something that takes you down and doesn’t let you come back up, something that makes me sad, something that makes me feel like a problem to which I will never find a solution.

This double LP shows a mature group, capable of composing elaborate songs, with frequent mood changes, yet very geometric and serial in structure.

The guitar expressionism is more channeled and subservient to the needs of the tracks, making this platter more accessible to the 'uninitiated.'
