Another great album. The Floridian group makes a strong comeback, and after the fury, violence, and emotions of "The Opposite Of December," they deliver another album of truly outstanding and original metal hardcore like only they can. Let me start by saying that this album significantly differs from the previous one in terms of style; indeed, we see them move even closer in the search for melodic sounds, especially in the emo... Now, don't get me wrong, it's not true at all that they've softened up as many believe; in fact, they haven't lost even a bit of their angry edge. Moreira in the shouted parts is still the monster we know, and the same goes for the rest of the group, who, if anything, seem to have improved their technique. The thing is, precisely because the band is trying to make the songs more melodic, we no longer find as much enjoyment in listening to the little flashes of brilliance of "The Opposite Of December" because the songs are structured differently. But they still deliver emotions, and they do it magnificently. Take "Botchla," it's the perfect opener for the new era of Poison The Well, perfectly summarizing the group's attitude. Moreover, they can still bring us to tears, take the splendid and moving finale of "Turn Down Elliot," the acoustic "Horn And Tails," or the warm melodic refrains, played on the edge of mood swings, of "Stick And Stones...". In short, once again a brilliant album. They haven't lost their genius and attitude, even though in this second work they seek different solutions, drawing a bit more from classic metalcore and emo ("Moments Over Exaggerate" and "Pieces Of You In Me" convey the idea). So, what to say? Even without reaching the levels of the previous record, here too you can feel the genius of this great band and their damned tendency to create masterpieces seems unwilling to stop.
