LA RECENSIONE

The album that ended the so-called nu-metal wave.

After the success of their first three official albums, in 2006 P.O.D. released "Testify," updating what they had done in their early days. The tracks strike a balance between rap-rock influences and other genres, as demonstrated by the singles "Goodbye for Now" and "Lights Out" and the lesser-known tracks "Roots in Stereo," "Sounds Like War," "Mistakes and Glories," "On the Grind," and "Mark My Words!" The sounds of the album still heavily reflect the difficult traits of the singer and drummer, torn between their supposed faith and rough suburban origins.

The group released the album just in time, as in 2020, the musical formula that made them famous would make little sense.

This album is just a repetition of what P.O.D. actually are, musicians closed in on themselves, who can only do what they have already done, without changing a bit.

P.O.D. have not contributed anything new to Nu Metal, nor to Christian music; their music is rather banal.
