LA RECENSIONE

After an album like Satellite, one would expect a work just as beautiful from them... and after the guitarist's departure, in my opinion the one who gave P.O.D. their signature sound, I had some doubts.

With the release of Matrix and the single Sleeping Awake, my doubts vanished. This CD is strange, many won't like it and will call it heresy... in my opinion, however, it's a great piece of work: original, eclectic (especially Freedom Fighters with its reggae rhythms), melodic, and powerful when needed.

P.O.D. go against the grain, they don't flaunt violence or mental illness, they don't need to fill a song with fuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to make it sound fierce. Perhaps it won't appeal on a superficial first listen, but when the notes and words of all the new P.O.D.-branded songs sink in, it becomes a stunning album.

While waiting for their arrival in Italy (I was at the Rainbow Club in Milan two years ago: great concert), I recommend you try listening to this album... and if you have the money, buy it, also because the booklet is amazing.
