Pink is growing, and growing better and better.

Even from the beginning, she showed she had nothing in common with the likes of Britney Spears, neither in artistic quality nor in personality. Sure, there were remnants of the then-dominant teen-pop, some musical rawness: fortunately, with this work, they are almost completely eliminated.

There are several themes present within the album: the first is the attack on shabby and incapable female figures, which unfortunately flood the Western mass media (Paris Hilton in the lead, who meanwhile released —if we can use such a grand word— an album) as exposed in the lead single "Stupid girls."

Moving on, Pink starts an introspective discourse about herself, a journey of self-inquiry about who she has become, the effects of money on her life, up to her father's experience during the Vietnam War. She even manages to insert a protest against Bush in the form of an open letter to the president from a citizen. In short, there is a lot of material, but it is managed well, very well, finding a pleasant harmony throughout the tracks.

A characteristic of the album on a thematic level is how Pink can sometimes be exuberant, thanks to the juxtaposition of intimate and delicate aspects with more political and social aspects, or even the sexual sphere (the splendid track on female masturbation, seen as an act of liberation). Musically, the album is a very pleasant pop album, willingly influenced by contemporary pop-rock, giving life to memorable ballads (Who knew) or harder pieces (U + ur hand, here the reference is to male masturbation, which Pink points to as the only path for men who want to dominate her), moving to dance hints ('Cuz I can) for slow and very sweet tracks (Dear Mr President) or the track sung with her father about the Vietnam War (I have seen the rain). A varied stylistic ensemble, which greatly enriches the album.

The success is not huge, but Pink does not seem to be one who has chased it too much, instead an excellent musician who performs good live shows, plays the guitar better and better, and sees her airplay on MTV decrease, thus losing much of her young audience but gaining an adult one.

With good reason, "I'm not dead" is the best pop album of 2006, and Pink has unequivocally matured.
