I don't know if it's shoegaze in its various forms that has made a comeback lately or if it's me who has approached it with greater conviction, but lately, there is no shortage of offerings.

Pity Sex (which, without the aid of the web, I would have serious problems introducing) come from the young college town of Ann Arbor, Michigan. They are four, three guys and a girl, two voices—one male, that of Brennan Greaves, and one female, that of Britty Drake (a name already known to me as she had collaborated on a track on the latest Airs album), who equally divide the tracks. "Feast Of Love" can be considered their expanded debut after the two previous EPs.

Unlike Airs, who fuse the material with post-hardcore and decline it with a lo-fi attitude, the sounds of Pity Sex are much more reassuring and sunny, flirting with genuine pop-punk and creating quite an attractive picture.

A somewhat curious moniker, not easily translatable, gives voice to ten tracks that flow quickly and smoothly within its 28-minute duration.
From the choice of titles to that of the artwork, it's clear which experiences will be recounted through their lyrics.

Among the various tracks, the most successful are those featuring the male voice and faster ones like "Wind-up" (fuzzy-solo), "Drown Me Out," and "Honey Pot," compared to the slower ones sung by Britty (I think of "Hollow Body").

Rosewater shoegaze and that's not a bad thing.
