PIQUED JACKS - The Living Past

Piqued Jacks are Italian, but they could easily be mistaken for a band from across the ocean. The fact that they went to Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, RHCP, to whom they entrusted the pre-production of a track that anticipated the release of the album before the summer - the beautiful “Wildly Shine”) already showcases the international ambitions of this band. The album itself was produced by Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Young Guns) in an 18th-century country house, a recording studio, and shared residence chosen for a total immersion in sounds, nature, and human chemistry. The singer's nearly perfect pronunciation for lyrics all in English also makes a difference. But then, above all, there is the music. Music in freedom, tied to American rock of the '90s (be it grunge, post-grunge, fm rock, or psychedelia), yet at the same time, untethered and non-derivative. Here, the difference lies in the band's undeniable technique (which operates at full throttle) and especially in the great ability to write songs that change pace and atmospheres within themselves, becoming pure rock one moment and the next, floating ambient rock/pop. Additionally, if you add the great and innate ability to write very accessible songs, we can calmly say that this is an album not to be missed.
