Emotional arpeggios contrasted with ardent clattering, all encapsulated in meticulously structured sounds that do not indulge in annihilation. Solitude in American mass culture, so enveloping and soft that it becomes maternal, alluring, bewitching but sinful and morbid.
A Hairshirt Of Purpose is a cohesive album that will drag you into a melancholy and angry spiral, not out of place. The trio Milkshake - Leaning on a Wheel - Texas is worth the price of admission.
