THE REVIEW

The vinyl enthusiast along the Naviglio Grande.

The little dog Trash is sitting under the counter. Among the now dust-covered paw pads appears a wonderful cover, full of facets of metallic ink.

In 1967, Philips produced the Prospective 21st-century series, recordings of concrete and electronic music by musicians including Ivo Malec, Luc Ferrari, Pierre Henry, and many others.

They still sound like the future today. Here are all the covers. And this lucky guy has them all. Envy.

I can't tell you what it's like, as I don't have a turntable, and this one isn’t online, but in the meantime, you can listen to this by François Bayle.

Zot.

Pierre Henry

Pierre Henry (1927–2017) was a French composer and a pioneer of musique concrète. Working with Pierre Schaeffer at French radio’s studios and later on his own, he expanded tape-based composition into concert works, stage pieces, and collaborations, notably with Michel Colombier on Messe pour le temps présent and with Schaeffer on Symphonie pour un homme seul.
