How wonderful to hear him like this, just like many years ago when he was the leader of the greatest Italian rock band!!! How wonderful to hear him in such good shape, listening to him you almost forget about the bad slip-ups like "Gatte e topi," and this is also thanks to the P-trio, particularly due to the guitar of the great Saverio Lanza.
A live recorded electro-acoustic CD at MTV venues. A mix of old and new songs, rock arrangements, much more Litfiba style than "Mondi Sommersi" or "Infinito" which bear the Litfiba's mark. "Lousiana" flows slowly, Pelù's voice is accompanied only by Saverio's acoustic guitar, and it's a great listen. Then "Lentezza" and "Velo" also acoustic, among them one of the CD's standout tracks: "Il volo", a 1990 piece dedicated to the late Ringo De Palma... guys what an arrangement and what an interpretation... much, much better than the original!!! Then "Orso cristallo", also significantly improved, especially thanks to the final solo while Piero picks up a Beatles verse. From here on, the songs will no longer be interspersed with interviews but primarily the acoustic gives way to pure rock and it starts off great: the intro of "Sorella notte" is really captivating, followed by another historic track "Maudit", an "angry" piece that Piero interprets magnificently and where Saverio certainly doesn't make you miss the good Renzulli, listening to it at times you might think you've put on "Colpo di coda".... then "Tribù" and a truly beautiful "Sparami", perhaps the most beautiful interpretation of this great '97 piece enriched by a truly pyrotechnic finale, another demonstration of skill by the great Saverio Lanza.
The finale is chilling, first "Animale di zona", always beautiful, and finally a wildly energetic "Segni'n faccia" with a full chorus from the audience, a song that wouldn't have looked out of place, especially in this arrangement, even in the already mentioned "Colpo di coda", on the contrary... it would have been a worthy companion to "Cangaceiro" for the concert's end!! However, I reserve the end of this review for the true gem of this CD: "Fiorirà". That it was a masterpiece, one of the most beautiful songs written by Pelù in his entire career, there was no doubt from the first listen on "In faccia", but here, with the new live outfit... guys.... there are no words to describe it, to be listened to in silence, the words, the 3 minutes of pure rock instrumental part, the 3 minutes of purest music I have ever heard, perhaps dreaming of a better world, the arrival of spring, and the blooming of the gerbera...
