The Picture, Heavy Metal from the Netherlands, formed in '79 and supported Saxon, AC/DC, and Ted Nugent on their European tours. This is their fourth work dated '83.
It's been almost 30 years since I bought it on vinyl. To be honest, I bought the record just for the cover.
And surprise..... I found a great classic Metal record.
The title track "Eternal Dark" is a Must. It starts with a burst worthy of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and continues with very "Rob Halford"-style vocals. The chorus has the typical hook that sticks in the Headbangers' heads.
The sound of the whole record is very good and thanks to that period, every guitar riff can be considered original.
The song structures are very reminiscent of Accept with a cleaner vocal style. (Udo = I'm rough, I'm raw, and vulgar)
They played from '81 to '87 and in 6 years, they changed 5 singers. I believe this lack of stability in the lineup resulted in a short musical life for Picture. Perhaps the names of the members also had their influence.
It's hard to remember (and pronounce) musicians like Van Prooijen, Vreugdenhil, Van Jaarsveld, and Van Oevelen.
Picture reunited in 2008. They could have stayed home watching "Dexter" and it would have been a good idea.
