LA RECENSIONE

Christmas is approaching by leaps and bounds, and we want to celebrate it in the best possible way.

It was the distant, but not so distant, 1998 when the Piccolo Coro Arcobaleno, a sort of appendix of the Antoniano Choir of "zecchiniana" memory, recorded this charming rap with a mystical-religious theme. The lyrics are signed by Maestro Umberto Scipione, and some verses are delightful, including:

"…and it seems that baby Jesus was a very cool kid, if I had been there at that time, he would have been my friend, and I would have put him in the soccer team, and now that child born in the cold and in the cave is already 2000 years old and plays with the computer in the high blue sky, up here above us".

The children recruited for the operation enjoy imitating world-famous rappers, but the charm of these young singers is immediately irresistible and contagious. The musical base is truly fitting; certainly, it might not be genuine rap, but it’s still, if you will, a wholehearted tribute to that world of rhymed verses and syncopated music.

It must be said that the aforementioned Maestro Scipione somewhat capitalized on it: in an interview a few years ago, he claimed to have sold the beauty of 100,000 copies when, of the eponymous song, practically no one knows anything. Scipione is a charming rascal, but that's that, the song is cheerful and lively, and almost two months early, Merry Christmas to all.
