This will be a shorter review than usual, to talk about one of the most radical and challenging films of recent years.

From the infected seed of a wicked and vengeful God, a world of horror and abjection is born. A dense and limitless darkness. Cosmic.

One cannot say that Mad God has a plot. Mad God is a terrifying and gruesome experience within a multi-layered world, only descending.

An enigmatic work for the very few, experimental, extreme.

A symphony of horror, of images and sounds alone. Words wouldn't suffice to express anything.

It is pure cinema. Cinema of nightmares.

A visionary undertaking that took its creator, one of Hollywood's most important and renowned effects artists, thirty years of overall work. It ultimately delivers images of horrid beauty, anguish and disgust, as well as indefinable allure.

It requires disposition, patience, and preparation to watch it.

A film that makes you travel. But not to places you'd like to go.

Recommended only to the bravest enthusiasts of what Nanni Moretti would have defined as pus underground.
