It's nice to review, click "Write Your Review" then click click click, News, short name, long name, non-existent group, poorly regarded album, etc. etc.
Write a couple of nonsensical lines: "it does a bit of this" "it does that" "it resembles such and such" "and harshly neglects sempronio giulio." The important thing, I believe, is to make it clear to those few people who read that it is an album absolutely worth listening to, to listen to sparingly, to pass over and say goodbye to, or to totally avoid in its entire putrefaction.
Phargo, I discovered them about 10 minutes ago, I didn't fall in love with them, their sound is not what I like (even though in certain parts they come close) and above all, they play EMO.
Let's go back a bit, maybe somewhere on the web, I explain that emo is not a genre, or at least, it's a way of playing that evokes emotion in an angry way. The Seam can do it despite their slowcore, the Weezer can do it despite their Pop, and the Smashing Pumpkins can do it in their psychedelic(?) fuzz-laden(???) nuhardrock(??????????????????), whatever it is. Then, only then, there are Sunny Day Real Estate or Mineral, who have outlined something greater. But the real question is: how much do I really know about EMO? Nothing, absolutely zero, but I can frame when a group follows those mid-'90s lines, Wow, I’ve been so boring, now I'm coming with the long-winded stream of consciousness, relax.
Ignorant white noises and lo-fi under layers of distortions that evoke a wall-of.sound between the most bearable shitgaze, rarely departing from melodic vocals and even when the melody explodes, they remain anchored to a melodic voice that screams without scratching. Slow enough to make the Seam envious, exactly, but I would never dare compare them, they are a different breed, another level. If with the Seam the cries are torrential, sobbing, that carve with a spoon into the chest, these evoke a tear for the past melancholy they bring back.
Lots of guitars, acoustic, distorted, sad and very sad, in short, is it or isn't it an EMO album? Don't ask me.
