“Us” Like every living being, Peter Gabriel goes through a rough period, very nostalgic, including psychoanalysis, due to his separation from his wife. He captures the bitter fruits and sensations experienced during that long time, transforming it all into “Us” and “Plus From Us” which, with ethnic musicians, will influence "Us". In "Us" we find singers like Sined O’Connor, Ayub Ogada, Dmitrypkrovsky Ensemble, Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno, etc...
This is a lived experience of his life, he feels alone and seeks mutual love in “Love To Be Loved”, wants the stable union of a couple in “Only Us”, describes sensuality and sex, now depressed in “Digging In The Dirt” and “Washing Of The Water”, the plea for love in “Come Talk To Me”, and his deep conscience in “Secret World”. It is full of continuous rhythm, and extreme experimental techno, funky-soul, never trivial, and fundamentally perfect as always. It expresses his temporary and human fear and the struggle to overcome time which at that moment seems not to pass. Significant is “Blood Of Eden” where the blood of the soul flows in the Eden between men and women who unite to generate love, in the long path of silence where sounds approach and give the possibility to continue to live, and sing; life is an extraordinary gift and must be sought; the warm blood of paradise travels at a speed greater than the negative thought of man and the cold and hasty reasoning of the mind. It is the Eden, the call to seek; it is the call to the human desire for union, for perfection. "Us" is an album full of love and pain both as a human form, and as an extended form in every facet and issue included in the entire universe.
"Many works by Peter Gabriel are always new, still shining today, with no dust settling on them."
"'Us' reveals itself as a bomb of crafted and artfully united sounds, with warmth almost tangible in its grooves."
