Pete Namlook & Klaus Schulze

Musical Group

A collaborative project between Pete Namlook and Klaus Schulze responsible for the 'The Dark Side of the Moog' series of albums released between 1994 and 2008.

Pete Namlook (Peter Kuhlmann) was a German electronic music producer and label founder; he died in 2012. Klaus Schulze was a German electronic music pioneer (born 1947) who released extensive solo work and collaborative projects; he died in 2022.

The reviewed material centers on the 'The Dark Side of the Moog' series, eleven collaborative albums issued between 1994 and 2008. Pete Namlook is noted as co-author/producer; Bill Laswell collaborates on volumes 4–7. Musically the series mixes expansive Schulze-style electronic soundscapes with ambient and occasional techno/beat passages. The reviewer gives a balanced, descriptive 3/5 and suggests newcomers start with Schulze's main solo work. The project plays humorously on Pink Floyd titles and vintage Moog synthesis.

For:Fans of ambient and electronic music, listeners interested in vintage Moog-based synth works and Klaus Schulze collaborations.

Among the side projects in the extensive discography of Klaus Schulze, the series "The Dark Side of the Moog" must be mentioned: eleven albums released so far between 1994 and 2008.
