There are days when I inevitably find myself engulfed by the pressures generated by the great and modern "global" society.

Suddenly, I wish I were the keeper of the secrets of the fourth dimension and could materialize in the form of Mr. Farrell during a "three-day" summer of many years ago.

"Three Days", a small great pearl contained in the "Ritual De Lo Habitual" of planetary success, tells of the pseudo-narcotic-alcoholic sexual marathon of the then singer of Jane's Addiction and two accommodating young ladies. Like Maradona in the second goal against the English in the 1986 Mexican world cup, like the pop perfection of "One" created by four Irish lads, the artistic peak, of those who can be defined as such, is reached only once.

The Jane's reached their creative peak at that moment, but several productions, particularly by the vocalist, followed. "Ultra Payloaded", represents one, marked 2007, perhaps the most ambitious or simply the most cunning one.

"Once Upon A Dog Star", the overture, is the ideal synthesis of what this collection wants and should represent: rhythm, melody, cunning, FM rock assault, meticulously curated in its realization. "Only Love, Let's Celebrate" and "Hard Life Easy" gracefully indulge in the disco marketability of the product. "Awesome" and "Insanity Rains" respectively dabble with orchestras and street punk.

The ancient creative light revives with the concluding triptych, "Milky Ave" vibrates in its sweet elegance, "Ultra Payloaded Satellite Party" reminds us of the reason for that unconditional love from twenty years ago. "Woman In The Window", surprises us, whispering the sad verses of a deceased poet, one Jim Morrison, whose voice resonates from ancient chests.

At this "party", all the guests, strictly exceptional, honor the host: deep and pulsing bass sections by Peter Hook of Joy Division, funky rhythm by Flea and John Frusciante of the Red Hot, glamorous little choruses by Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, and guitar enlightenments by Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme.

THREE STARS AND A BIT: it will be wonderful to play this "Payloaded", while driving the convertible at night, along the curves of the French Riviera with "Cristal" by our side; it will be fantastic, in the company of drunken friends, to seek the roots of the "Alternative" among the grooves of "Nothing's Shocking".
