The Profile

Per Grazia Ricevuta (PGR) is an Italian music group formed in 2001 by Giovanni Lindo Ferretti after the end of CCCP and CSI. Early PGR featured Gianni Maroccolo, Giorgio Canali, Francesco Magnelli and Ginevra Di Marco, moving from electronics and world-leaning textures to a rawer rock setup after line-up changes. Releases include the self-titled PGR (2002), the live Montesole 29 giugno 2001 (2003), D'anime e d'animali (2004), Ultime notizie di cronaca (2009), and ConFusione (2010), the latter featuring reworks by Franco Battiato.

PGR debuted publicly on 29 June 2001 in Montesole at a concert dedicated to Don Giuseppe Dossetti. D'anime e d'animali followed the exit of Ginevra Di Marco and Francesco Magnelli and was produced with Peter Walsh at Real World Studios. ConFusione (2010) presented nine PGR songs ‘disidratate’ by Franco Battiato and was issued with La Repubblica’s XL.

The reviews trace PGR’s post-CSI path: an electronic-leaning 2002 debut, the rawer energy of D'anime e d'animali after key departures, and the introspective Ultime notizie di cronaca. ConFusione, reworked by Franco Battiato, is seen as dispensable by some. Live document Montesole 29 giugno 2001 divides opinions, especially over keyboard-heavy arrangements and the absence of Zamboni’s guitar counterpoint.
