A few evenings ago at the de Barbuti theater in Salerno, I attended the concert of Peppe Barra accompanied by the violin of Lino Cannavacciuolo.
Peppe Barra, much loved by the Salerno audience, treated us to an unforgettable evening, enchanting us with his ancient stories, from Naples from the 1600s onwards, up to the beautiful version of Bocca di rosa... "temptation... temptation". His facial expressions, his colorful expressions, his intelligent gaze, his suffering, his smiling, made me experience moments of great emotion.
Peppe Barra is a great artist, full of warmth, capable of communicating his immense passion for his art. His eye is always turned to tradition, to his beloved and magical Naples because "si nun saie addò ne vieni non può sapè addo ia i" (if you don't know where you come from you can't know where you need to go). Last night then Lino Cannavacciuolo, after the ups and downs of my infatuation with his music, finally won me over: true love! He played a piece alone, I had never heard it before yesterday, suffice it to say that during the performance he was applauded three times, in addition to the final ovation. When accompanying Peppe Barra, I'm sure I heard the violin speak! Lino Cannavacciuolo makes his violin speak, he gives it life, he gives it a soul!
I recommend you go see these two artists when you get the chance, you will enjoy it immensely, I assure you. Bye
