The Peawees are a band from La Spezia, a city that has always been prolific in the music scene with good bands like the Manges. Active since '95, they have opened for big names such as The Damned and Groovie Ghoulies. They have also been covered by the latter. The genre proposed in The Peawees' third album is an engaging high-quality punk'n'roll consisting of 70s punk influences, as well as excellent rockabilly solos and good, typically rock'n'roll vocals characterized by the warm voice of Hervé, the band's frontman. They can be likened to Social Distortion in terms of genre.
After being released in 2001 by a foreign label, the album in question was more recently reissued in Italy with the addition of three tracks. But let's get to the music, which kicks off with a bang with "Road To Rock'n'roll," a truly engaging and driven song, perhaps the best, also featured in several international compilations. The following track proceeds with the same energy, making way for the other great hit of the album, "Cause You Don't Know Me," a more laid-back song that alone is worth the price of the CD, featuring a meaningful lyric against labels assigned without sufficient basis. The album continues with the rocking title track and the most punk song of the album "Don't Give A Fuck," a real fuck-anthem to shout out loud. Further along are various covers, among which we should mention "Runaround Sue," a remake of a classic by a 50s band, "Dion and the Belmonts." The album closes with "Don't Look," a fast and hypnotic strum that powerfully closes a mature and very interesting album by a promising Italian band appreciated even abroad, capturing in just half an hour the energy of punk and the technique and grit of rock'n'roll!
Highly recommended. Genre: Punk'n'roll
