The story is about a policeman on his first day on the force, who is sent to chase some criminals. We are in America.

These criminals capture him and hold him tightly while the boss first blows up his hand and then fills him with bullets, until the boss shoots him in the head.

The damage is done, this policeman is dead even though they try everything to save his life. But they succeed. In fact, this policeman returns to service, only now he is RoboCOP.

Who has never heard of this great star-spangled hero who was a policeman and now, after being severely injured, returns to being a policeman but this time with a robotic body?

Actually, it's not quite clear if the whole head of the policeman is inserted into the cyborg or if the face is fake and to make Robocop work they only used the brain of the unfortunate policeman (whose real name is Murphy).

It's precisely thanks to his new body that the law now has a new armed arm, and Robocop with his gun will not take long to gain respect. However, like every film worth its salt, the main theme is revenge. Robocop must find the criminals who reduced him to this state in order to bring them to justice.

Moreover, the film is touching because Robocop remembers when he was human and occasionally has moments of emptiness where he relives the moment he died, so he is part machine and part man.

In addition to the theme of violence, there is also the theme of the other, because Robocop is like Frankenstein, he was created but not generated and therefore harbors feelings of revenge against those who created him and certainly does not live serenely with his being a robot, even though he will find his identity only in Robocop 3, where he will defeat a ninja-robot.

Surely we are facing one of the greatest science fiction films ever made, not forgetting that the year is 1987 and therefore the special effects are what they are. There are very violent scenes, there is no lack of blood, and even seeing the policeman's head with all the microchips behind it is not recommended for a child audience (the helmet is connected by two screws that must each time be unscrewed), which is why the film was not suitable for those under 14 years of age.

I tried to make a slightly more technical analysis without revealing part of the plot, so those who haven't seen this masterpiece yet will have the opportunity to discover with their own eyes whether the bad guys will be brought to justice or whether our beloved hero will succumb.

Interesting to state how before Peter Weller the director had in mind the idea of having Arnold Schwarzenegger play the protagonist, but he was too muscular and they were afraid of having to completely remake the armor which was evidently already made. It would certainly have been nice to see Schwarzenegger in the role of Robocop, and it is not said he won't do it in the future since another remake of Robocop is planned, although it is not known when it will be released, reliable sources say 2011.

Let's wait and see.

Robocop is born, a robo-cyborg who initially remembers nothing of his past life.

Verhoeven managed to cover, besides various topics dear to him, almost prophetic themes, considering their great relevance today.

Robocop is resolute and brutal, gradually killing all the criminals and drug traffickers in the city when one day memories start to come back to his mind.

Verhoeven cleverly seeks out comedy in every situation, even the bloodiest, often descending into the grotesque.
