I preface by saying that I grew up on bread and Beatles, and Paul and John have been, for certain reasons, among my most present childhood companions, and for this reason, I cannot be too critical of everything they've done.
Regarding the album, I listened with devout attention and let me say that, even if classy, I found it a pointless work.
The first feeling was..."Mmmmh... how nice, it starts with a Honey Pie style track" and that could have been fine; when I realized in the end that the entire album was like that, well, I wanted my money back.
But of Paul, the one who played with those four from Liverpool, who can warm and transport immense yearning audiences, who wrote tracks like Drive My Car or Got to Get You into My Life, what happened to him?
I understand that the new marriage might have sweetened this phase of his life just like his honeymoon... but there is too much honey here, and, you know, too much....
OK, great musicians, well played, well recorded, all good but PAUL, our beloved Paul... where is he?
His rock flair is absent as well as his (unique) voice. He sounds like my grandfather humming in the shower not to disturb the neighbors. What happened to the Paul who closes concerts with Helter Skelter?
Sure, Sir Paul can be granted anything and all things considered this new album confirms the history of the previous ones that we know, apart from some rare cases, have not shone and actually, in some cases would have buried any other artist in shame and mud.
No, dear Paul, it’s fine by me if you make an appearance on a Tony Bennett album and sing a track with him in his style but an entire album of this kind dedicated to those who spend hundreds of euros to chase you down in concerts and listen to "YOUR" music, well, you could have spared us that.
Then I find it an album that doesn't invite re-listening; in a couple of weeks (like most of his solo albums) we won't remember it anymore and we'll continue to get excited singing Lady Madonna or Can't Buy Me Love, forgiving him everything... because he remains who he is, Sir Paul McCartney, the legend.

Just 5 minutes of listening is enough to realize that the record is brilliantly played and exudes class from every pore.
After all, the tracks are partly recorded at Capital Records in L.A., partly in NY, and mixed at the mecca of Abbey Road.
