In order to best enhance his Jewish roots, as well as the entire musical movement that originated from there (not just in a geographical sense, given the presence of this people on a large portion of the earth's surface), John Zorn specifically created a series of releases some years ago, called 'Radical Jewish Culture', which form one of the various thematic branches of his label, Tzadik.

And it is precisely within this category of belonging that Paul Brody moves with his quintet, which takes the name Sadawi; a quintet occasionally enhanced by the presence of various guests, including Zorn himself. The trumpet player based in Berlin opts for a sonic interpretation, which leans towards a blend of traditional klezmer, as well as Balkan music, with fairly common jazz structures (except for some sporadic passages on the edge of jazz rock and still never in an avant perspective) with an execution that's all too clean but scarcely effective and incisive, without considering that certain instrumental solutions, such as those where the banjo appears, as well as those where uncertain and too sporadic paths are attempted to be deemed credible for contamination with non-radical electronics ("For The Moment") leave much to be desired.
