After a not-so-happy debut at Sanremo two years ago, Patrizia Laquidara has managed to produce a good album. Who would have thought? It's a melodic and nostalgic folk landscape that presents itself to the listener, imbued with love, emotion, and Portuguese "saudade", to whose musical tradition many tracks refer.
"I sew the tears and deceptions myself" she whispers in "Mielato", the opening track: it is immediately clear that this is Her record, where she and her powerful, warm voice are the almost absolute protagonists.
In "Indirizzo Portoghese", one song fades into another, amidst weeping guitars and imperceptible electronic atmospheres, never falling into banality, traveling on tracks of excellent lyrics and meticulous arrangements, especially for the strings ("Lividi e Fiori"). In short, without the listener realizing it, the record quickly reaches its completion, to the final gem of this work: a "Cu Cu Rru Cu Cu' Paloma" worthy of today's best Italian interpretations.
It is an album that undoubtedly offers many surprises, unconventional, enjoyable. A must-listen.
