I was in Rome the other night and a friend of mine invited me to a concert. I went and I think I've never witnessed such an absurd show! I found myself on stage with a kind of live action Telespalla Bob who entertained me, moved me, and most importantly convinced me to buy the CD! His name is PAOLO ZANARDI and the album, bought with the utmost serenity at the booth set up for the concert, has a highly suggestive title: "Portami A Fare Un Giro"! It was impossible to resist the temptation! Looking at the cover of this album intrigued me instantly: who is this guy with the absorbed look lost in who knows what thoughts, probably waiting for someone to take him "for a ride"?!

That's how I entered a world made of stories that seem lived on the skin of this strange guy, tales of colorful dreams, confused yet described so well that they appear tangible. As the tracks play one after another, these stories transform into lines, create images, and blend as much as different paints mix, provoking emotions directly proportional to the intensity of the shades. I've entered Paolo Zanardi's world and... "we fly!!!" as he shouts in the single Giocattolaio. Musically it's engaging, the sounds are warm, never tiring, and the thing I find myself most attached to already after the first listen is the voice: Paolo Zanardi's voice is "the cherry on the cake, it never spoils!" and makes this record an album of musical paintings where I can't find a dip in tone. I reach the end and realize my curiosity has led me to discover an artist I like for being not at all trivial and because he makes me study "escape plans from my brain."

The album also features a cover of Diaframma, a truly stunning version of "Caldo" ...and what about the other tracks? The track that gives the album its name is a blast, it flows smooth as oil and the rest of the album is perfect, musically it's a gem that can't be missing in the best collections of enthusiasts of... of whom? Boh! I really don't know who to associate the style of this pseudo-Puglian singer-songwriter with, I just know that any comparison would be superfluous and then... put it in the player, and let everyone have their own interpretation! For me, it's a masterpiece! Enjoy listening everyone!
