Paolo Rossi? Paolo Rossi, not the footballer. Paolo Rossi the comedian.
Paolo Rossi at the height of his glory, theater, TV, books, everything he touched turned to gold, so why not a nice CD? Given the success, the following year another CD. Let's start from the beginning, 1993, the radio began playing a track by Paolo Rossi: "Abdul". Overwhelming comedy with a flurry of jokes about the Italian soccer world.
"Give me the Gazzella dello Sport" "Someone who named his newspaper "Giornale" must be a genius if he named his son "Son" the dog "dog"" Paolo is truly in form right from the intro when we test the speakers, right speaker: "There are blacks to beat up!" left speaker: "Well, I don't know but.." Or in "Squadrone" again with the soccer metaphor, a bit, a bit? A crazy tirade against Milan's dominance. "The stadium is mine, the ball is mine you don't give me the ball? Enough, I'm going home.."
Some 'songs' are sung with famous and celebrated figures, Jannacci for "Ho visto un re" I don't think such a song needs presentations. Capossela in "Tornar", Baglioni for "Canzonaccia" a real drama. Another tirade is: "Setto nasale in fiamme" where the sacrificial victim is a Sanremo singer like Masini. It all ends with "Intervallo" where the author describes the images for the radio audience. Another two minutes of sharp jokes.
A somewhat dishonest work, and a bit sly like Rossi's childhood face already mocking us from the cover. 'Hammamet' is practically the encore exit and what an encore. "Intro big black bigul", call some aunt from Milan if you don't know what Bigul is.
"Hammamet" it was in vogue to speak ill of thieves, especially those who fled abroad with bags full of money. However, accusing them even of stealing the fountain seems excessive to me. The remake of "Sogno all'incontrario" from the other album seems a bit like filler, the track is pleasantly surreal.
At the last track, the piece that made me spend 19,000 lire for this CD: "La lista". Being able to make thousands of people laugh simply by listing the ministers of the first Berlusconi government, without a joke but just with voice inflection and mimicry, which we can't see on the disc, I think is a prerogative only of great artists.
All the tracks from the two works are sung and played live, covering a time period from 1988 to 1994, and are taken from various shows by Paolo Rossi not the footballer Paolo Rossi the comedian.
