Paolo Meneguzzi, talented Italian artist, in 2005, presents the album “Favola”.

After purchasing it because Pablo (his real name) I highly regard him and having seen him live as well, I felt a strong disappointment. Yes, because “Favola” is an album that has only four, possibly five worthwhile songs, the rest is a boring monologue. And it’s a pity because Meneguzzi is definitely one of the most promising Italian artists.

The tracks I recommend are No. 2 “Sara” which is very beautiful, although not at the level of songs like “Quel ti amo maledetto” or the fiery “Baciami”. “Non capiva che l’amavo” is the song that Paolo brought to Sanremo 2005, I recommend listening to the duet with Luca Dirisio which is very beautiful, where two of the most promising and talented Italian singers on the Ariston stage deliver a nice duet. Even though Luca’s latest album disappointed me, but perhaps I’ll write another review on that. The other tracks I feel like recommending are “L’albero di Natale” (score 6.5), “Regalami un fiore” (score 7) and “Da figlio a padre” (score 7). Of the first track “Lui e Lei” I really like the video inspired by the game “The Sims”.

For the rest, it is an album that doesn’t work, in truth, Pablo’s albums have never been the soundtracks of my days, but it was fair to expect a more complete and mature album. I continue to prefer the live version of Meneguzzi who doesn’t have an amazing voice, but in concerts, he knows how to convey emotions. In short, a disappointment and also a pity for all the listeners of Italian pop, which apart from the splendid “Laura Pausini” and “Cesare Cremonini”, is not experiencing an exciting moment.
