LA RECENSIONE

Music is a unique form of art that engages, strikes, and amazes, creating images from sounds and transforming them into vibrant and exquisitely personal sensations. These sensations infiltrate the skin, dig deep into the bones, and then settle in the soul, forming that small luggage of colors that make up the palette of our being.

An example of this "workshop of feelings" is "Stanley Music!", a work born from the mind of the Devil Quartet, yet another project involving Paolo Fresu, a versatile and beloved (especially abroad) Italian trumpeter and composer. The sounds that make up the aforementioned album are of a freshness and elegance truly out of the ordinary, they enter the mind projecting it into a universe made of dreamy, magical, and enveloping melodies like a hug, one of those that gently wrap you and leave you free to breathe, savor and enjoy the moment, capturing every nuance, every note, only to surrender to a relaxed torpor. Feelings do not make for an accurate description; their subjectivity makes it difficult for the reader to understand and interpret a work. However, in certain situations, it is really complicated to convey to someone what the listening experience of tracks like "Another Road To Timbuctu," "Il tempo del sogno" or "Devil's Game/Labbra bianche" can evoke, three tracks that impress and enchant with their expertise, passion and sense of transport they express, in which every single musician is like a piece of a puzzle, indispensable for the latter to be complete and perfectly enjoyable.

In conclusion, I can only recommend everyone to listen to this album, if only because it’s right to do oneself good and indulge in a moment where the world isn't so scary after all. Devil Quartet: Paolo Fresu (trumpet, flugelhorn, and multieffects), Bebo Ferra (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and multieffects), Paolino Dalla Porta (double bass), Stefano Bagnoli (drums).
