Turin-born director, screenwriter and lead actor of the 1984 film Pirata!, presented at Venice and associated with punk/new wave aesthetics.

The film cost three hundred million lire, features punk/new wave acts such as Gaznevada, Kirlian Camera and Jo Squillo, includes twins Gloria and Nadia Ferrero and Luisella Ciaffi (the director's mother), and mixes influences from George Orwell, K.W. Jeter and Stanley Kubrick. It received modest attention, became a cult object and was later largely forgotten.
