A few years ago, during a pleasant chat with Paolo Benvegnù before one of his acoustic guitar and voice concerts among the ruins of San Ginesio, I confided in him how I consider him one of the few artists whose next album I know I will love even before listening to it.

This has happened several times, and I see no reason why it shouldn't happen with this latest work as well, and so, punctually, it did.

"E' inutile parlare d'amore" is Benvegnù 100%; airy and dramatic ballads, ethereal melodies, very 80s tracks, and hermetic lyrics at the edge of being comprehensible.

In short, another typical Benvegnù piece?

Not at all, because although it's true that in the last 2/3 records Paolone has somewhat halted the early career experimentation, he certainly doesn't play it safe and certainly doesn't aim to please a mainstream audience, even though at times the album is brazenly pop, almost winking at the radio.

It is far from "Hermann" and, in general, from the first 3 masterworks, but it's a beautiful album of songs written by someone who knows how to write them and how they should be written.

Absolute highlights are the enchanting "Our Love Song," definitely the most 80s, and "Libero," a melody pearl that moves upon first listening.

And it's pointless, besides talking about love, to write lengthy reviews for an album that simply must be listened to, understood, and loved: whether it's at the first or the hundredth listen, it hardly matters; Paolone will succeed in breaking into the most impenetrable hearts.
