Paola Tagliaferro is a multifaceted artist, always interested in spirituality and Eastern philosophies and doctrines: over time, she developed a passion not only for music but also for dance and painting. She started studying music at a very young age, releasing a couple of admittedly raw singles in the late '70s. Later, she returned with two works not yet fully matured, between pop, fusion, and electronic. She then studied Dhrupad singing at the Conservatory of Vicenza with Amelia Cuni and collaborated with musicians of the caliber of Paul Roland and Lino Capra Vaccina. She then met an important name in the international progressive scene like Peter Sinfield, setting one of his texts to music in the 2009 album "Chrisalys", and in 2012, she created "Milioni di Lune" together with other prestigious musicians. Recently, she also had contacts with the late Greg Lake, whom she managed to grant honorary citizenship of Zoagli. Now her new album titled "Fabulae" is being released, published by Owl Records and distributed by Black Widow.

In “Fabulae,” we find a cover of the famous “Moonchild” by King Crimson and a track composed by Bernardo Lanzetti. It is an album accompanied by an elegant booklet containing all the song lyrics written by Paola Tagliaferro. Enthusiastic comments from names like Steve Hackett of Genesis, Regina Lake – wife of the late Greg Lake – and Juri Camisasca can also be read. That said, do not expect a progressive rock album. In “Fabulae,” the protagonist is Paola Tagliaferro's voice—with essential contributions from Pier Gonnella—alternating singing with recitation. The music is serene and is a gentle accompaniment to her lyrics. We are not far from a new age aesthetic here, both regarding the meaning of the words and from a purely musical standpoint. We are faced with a poetic album with enchanting atmospheres characterized by piano, strings, and percussion sounds. The music flows gently, encountering new age inspirations as in the opening “Il risveglio dela Lupa,” folk as in “Bianca Dea,” ethnic—“Il tamburo della Sciamana,” acoustic, and esoteric—“Il giorno della Luna.” You can feel that this is a work with a pronounced female sensitivity.

If you like new age, the blending of genres, a splash of ethnic music, and adore soft and gentle atmospheres, “Fabulae” might appeal to you. Available at Black Widow: https://blackwidow.it/.
