It was about one last night when I got home, and after getting into bed, I put my earbuds in my phone, logged into Spotify, and listened to "Giungla," the new album by Paola&Chiara, all in one breath. A magical experience, I've always loved these two artists, but what my ears heard last night was truly a surprise. An album like those you don't hear anymore today, with many different sounds, yet logically connected, a 'jungle' of emotions, colors, and sensations, and listening to it in bed gave me a sense of peace at times that is hard to find in the noise of today's music. A fully Italian production, but one that even international stars don't make anymore, of a unique taste and sophistication, rich in nuances, and accompanied by two voices that have been the soundtrack of my life for years. At the end of the album, I was really delighted and positively moved; when you hear really great music, you can only be satisfied to have started this adventure and ventured into this 'jungle'.
Divertiamoci (Perchè C'è Feeling) [feat. Razza Krasta]: the track is so American, so intriguing, that dancing and becoming a bit 'wild' is inevitable. You feel like living the night with an unbuttoned shirt and no fixed thoughts. Tu Sei L'anno Che Verrà: stunning track, it reminds me of Vicki and + forte di te, perfect for late summer. The best track on the album in my opinion, it feels like running in the wind with earbuds and the music at full volume. Tu Devi Essere Pazzo [feat. Moreno]: I really like the melody, Moreno doesn't convince me, but the rap enriches this piece (the album also includes the no rap version). The chorus sticks in your mind, the song is constantly building. A melancholic text about love, whether unrequited or reciprocated, still painful. Non C'è Me Senza Te: it seems to me like a lounge reprise of the melody of Emozioni. It's so relaxing. A very chic song, summery but without falling into the clichés of a hit, a piece that recalls the atmospheres of a sunset in Saint Tropez. E Se Per Caso: if Giornata Storica were released today, this track would be included. I imagine the youthful voices of the duo singing this track, in the Irish atmospheres of their second album. Ma Tu Non Puoi (Più Chiamarla Felicità): I love the opposition between the calm voices and the more electro beat rhythm. A more futuristic sound compared to the other tracks, recalling the atmospheres of Win The Game. Stai Dove Sei: a classic ballad, but it doesn't convince me, I can't follow the melody. The two artists are very attached to this track, which indeed is the first one they presented live. Maybe by understanding what the lyrics are about, I'll be able to appreciate it better. Non Piangere Per Me: a great retro dance track, a mix of old and new sounds, the lyrics have a very Italian pop taste, the arrangement of words gives an engaging rhythm to the track. Non Sei Più Tu: the track I like the least, a midtempo that tries with its lyrics to be a ballad but remains bland to listen to, it doesn't manage to become fluent, a pity because the chorus has something catchy that then gets lost in the rest of the track. Ultime Gocce D'estate: beautiful, very '80s, if you close your eyes you dream of distant places, you can travel to bright beaches and unexplored places, a 'paradise beyond the ocean'. Che Mi Importa Di Te: sampling of Rihanna, and without flattery I say that this version is beautiful, while Rihanna's is quite boring. This version is more majestic, due to some sound modifications and the two harmonious voices in the track, which grow becoming sublime in some parts. La Voce Dentro Me: oh, it's been a long time since I heard this 'retro piano' version of P&C. Cute, it reminds me of Midnight and Martinis by Emma Bunton. I imagine a piano, the Iezzi sisters in evening gowns, and some drinks. Ba Xin Fang Kai (A Modo Mio) [Chinese Version]: the gem of the album, the Chinese version of the 2005 single 'A Modo Mio'. A very very bizarre choice, no doubt, but after singing in Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, and Hebrew, why not venture into Chinese?
In conclusion, perhaps the most beautiful CD of the last five years, don't let it slip away! ;)
