Watercolors, suspension, lightness, peace... But also an exhibition of beauty with the same frequency as our soul. The clarity of the sounds, the presence of the voice with its calm freshness tells us that the secret of life is right before us, it is all there in front of us with its simplicity.
Eating an apple while strolling, being moved by a smile, shivers recalling youth, watching the colors of autumn from the window while it rains outside, dawdling in your being... But there is no sadness, only a veiled melancholy that cements the indissolubility with being happy. And a retroactive happiness gallops throughout the album.
A work from 1985 released by Resistance Records, Marina del Rey CA 90295, that label that published the first works of the 17 Pygmies, Californian stuff therefore. And two "pygmies" are part of the lineup, they are Jackson Del Rey (guitars, keyboards, percussion) and Robert Loveless (piano, vibraphone, accordion) who together with M Rima (vocals), Aki (vocals), Russell Jessum (violin), give us a lovely gift.
Unusual but precise instruments in outlining the futility of the frenzy of living. The absence of market-driven airs nourishes us spiritually, communication is not distorted by convenience, everything is clear and direct right there and humanly excludes a confrontation suggested by the outside.
Interiority is visible and presents itself without the deceit of the common veil of anguish. The trick of suffering is anesthetized throughout the listening of the album. One floats in impersonal regions without thoughts but full of immediacy.
Let us love ourselves and lull ourselves in this disarming happiness. This simplicity is profound. The invisible we need is before us, this "refuge" offers it to us, let's inhabit it... Shake hands!
