Expectations for this new "Pallbearer" album were quite high. After capturing the critics' attention with the previous "Sorrow And Extinction," the band delivers this wonderful "Foundations Of Burden," driven to improve every aspect of their sound without sacrificing the heart with which they have always dedicated themselves to their songs. "Foundation Of Burden" is filled from start to finish with exquisite guitar sounds, rhythms, and slow grooves that impress the listener. A song like "The Ghost I Used To Be" (the best on the album in my opinion) sees the "Pallbearer" use a sensual and enchanting approach, creating incredible pathos just by listening to the initial guitar riff. The band manages to journey into "Doom Metal" territories, experimenting much more than one might imagine, ensuring they explore different compositions in a certain style without sacrificing the heaviness of such a genre. The group has employed a natural sense of dynamics in every song. Each track is based on monstrous riffs, low and powerful tones that create a cathartic bursting of emotions. Sparing you the details of each song, I choose to leave you free to introduce yourself into the new sonic adventure of "Pallbearer": therefore, the pleasure is yours to discover the heavier passages or linger on the sweeter fragments of beautiful melody, absolutely splendid. It's time to dream.
