2015 Albums Part 1
I won't deceive you and I'll say straight away that this series of reviews is meant to create my 2015 ranking. At the same time, in a few magical lines, I'll try to spark the right curiosity about the albums I'll discuss.
The Palehound are the illegitimate children of '90s Boston, with off-kilter sounds and genuine math pop. The melodies are catchy and don’t shy away from veering toward folk or country. The guitars don’t roar like with the Speedy Ortiz, a very similar band to them, but this doesn’t kill the dynamics, quite the contrary. The female vocals give the whole thing an even sweeter aura even in the most angular moments; in this, it can remind you of the voice of the Hop Along's frontman: Frances Quinlan. Pavement, Pixies, and Breeders are the reference bands for this album that will transport you from surf sensations to typically post-punk moments, passing through the already described genres. When I talk of math, it must be clarified that we are certainly not listening to an album by Don Caballero nor by Polvo; Helium by Mary Timony is the main source of inspiration for Palehound. A must-have album for the collection, assured Top 15 in many rankings. Molly and Healthier Folk are the two best tracks on the album!
