Paco de Lucía (Francisco Gustavo Sánchez Gómez) was a Spanish flamenco guitarist from Algeciras, widely regarded as a pioneer of modern flamenco. He collaborated with artists such as Camarón de la Isla, John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell.

Born 21 December 1947 in Algeciras, Spain; died 25 February 2014. Released the album Castro Marin (1981). Collaborated with Camarón de la Isla, John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell. Solo Quiero Caminar (1981) is a notable album referenced in reviews.

The review recommends Castro Marin (1981) as an accessible, instrumental entry point to Paco de Lucía's work. It highlights collaborations with Larry Coryell and John McLaughlin and the use of multiple palos (Colombiana, Bulerías, Fandangos, Solea, Rumba). The reviewer notes technical complexity without gratuitous virtuosity and references re-recordings on Solo Quiero Caminar.

For:Fans of flamenco and Spanish guitar, guitarists, world-music listeners and newcomers seeking an accessible instrumental entry to flamenco.

I choose to review "Castro Marin", an album from 1981, because it is the first album in my possession from the vast discography of the artist from Algeciras.
