He once said, “No preparation is necessary for me to play the villain, I can handle that myself.” With a career spanning over fifty years, he has appeared in more than 140 films, having started acting as a child in various television series in the 1950s.

Walken is also an excellent dancer, which is why dance is often a part of his roles. In an interview, he revealed: "It was common for people—and I mean the working class—to send their children to dance school.
