I have a slight fear that I’m not enjoying Marvel, because okay Iron Man was a good movie, but beyond that, Hulk was a piece of junk, Iron Man 2 a hot mess for half of its runtime, and then there's this Thor...good God. At least with the other two I can give them the benefit of the doubt that the direction is always good, even if they are poorly executed. The direction of Thor...is quite atrocious, especially for one detail that annoyed me tremendously: every 20 seconds there's a "slanted" shot, where the perspective is tilted to the left or right that adds absolutely nothing to the film; on the contrary, it ruins it quite a bit in my opinion because I can’t tell if it was intentional or just a botched job. Maybe both, anyway, let’s not dwell on that, let’s talk about the film...well the film...the film...so: Thor's story can be summed up in a few words, and they would be "Thor is unworthy of the throne, is cast down to Earth, meets some guys, can’t get his hammer back, meets friends, saves Earth, kisses the chick he’s formed a stronger bond with, becomes worthy of the throne, kicks the ass of his evil brother"...that’s it. Also, Thor is a character whose intelligence is comparable to Forrest Gump, I’m not joking, this guy invades the realm of giants just because two giants came into Asgard, it’s like finding two pubic hairs on the toilet seat and going to set fire to the groin hairs of the one who left them, this God of thunder is an idiot and doesn’t get any better after that. At least this film has one thing that makes it worthwhile: Loki. Loki is perfect, he's a great villain who acts on his own without using force, only words; I probably have a weakness for mentalist villains and not for the "I’m ugly and mean, I’ll kick your ass because I’m the strongest in the universe." But Loki isn’t enough to save this flat movie, with its poor story regarding the protagonists and a rather poorly made direction. Marvel, you really need to do much better than this.
