The flash

And sky and earth revealed themselves as they were:
the earth panting, livid, in a shudder;
the sky cluttered, tragic, undone:
white white in the silent tumult
a house appeared then vanished all at once;
like an eye, that, wide, astonished,
opened and closed, in the black night.
